Greensward Hamlet  is located in the small rural town of Buxton in Southern Maine. Buxton is the new and upcoming bedroom community for Portland and Saco.  Its beautiful rolling hills, farmland, and easy road system with the majestic and historic Saco River running through the countryside, make it a great place for many outdoor activities:  on-road and off-road bicycling, kayaking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. It is only one mile from Salmon Falls Park where you can enjoy swimming, a family picnic, a nature walk, or launch your kayak or canoe for a nice quiet paddle down the Saco River. 

Greensward Hamlet  is about 18 miles west of Portland and 8 miles north of Saco, where one can catch Amtrak to Boston.  The Portland Jetport, with numerous daily flights to take you anywhere in the world, is a short 20-minute drive.  Interstate 95 is only 8 miles away and gives easy access to two great cultural cities.  Traveling on Interstate 95 North to Portland takes only 20 to 30 minutes.  Traveling South on Interstate 95 to Boston is an easy one hour, 45 minute drive. 

The beautiful southern Maine coast is closeby.  Enjoy the seven miles of sandy beach at Old Orchard Beach.  Take a drive on U.S. Route 1 north or south, enjoying the quaint seaside villages and beautiful beaches.
